Egg Dyeing
Friday morning Claire and I joined in the egg-dyeing fun at the church. Sweet Karen McKerihan sets up Ukranian egg dyeing for folks in the church every Easter. This year Claire and I were finally able to go, since she was out of school for spring break. As I had to explain to Claire, Ukranian egg dyeing is different from regular egg dyeing: Special wax is used to layer the dyes, so intricate (if you're good) designs can be created. Then you use candles to melt off the wax, revealing the layered colors. Claire LOVED it! She said her favorite part was blowing the yolks out of the eggs, which occurs after the dyeing is done; hence, Claire's lips were dyed purple for several hours. Here are the pretty eggs we completed.
